A mixture of pre-hispanic and Catholic rituals celebrated by eating and drinking special foods with you honored forefathers, in their place of final rest, which is cleaned for the occasion and spruced up with flowers and paper decorations. The best were the skeleton shaped cookies.

El Tropical

It's been said that Mexico "runs on paperclips and rubber bands". It simply means that the Mexican people are Master "jury riggers". Like, in the absence of actual buses they ran fleets of flatbed truck fitted with wooden benches to fill the niche. They were called "Tropicales".

The Serenade

It wasn't unusual to be woken up from the middle of your dreams, anytime between 3 to 5 am, by the sweet melody of a romantic song as the young neighbor girl was being courted by an eager boy. Mom and Dad discreetly watching the proceedings from nearby.

Fireworks could not be just beautiful lights... Oh no! Danger needed to be there, and this was provided by a guy wearing an armature loaded with light fireworks running through the crowd. (I wonder if they are still doing it?)
